NLP (Neuro-linguistic programming)

What is NLP?

NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Neuro refers to your neurology; Linguistic refers to language; Programming refers to how that neural language functions. In other words, learning NLP is like learning the language of your mind. It can help us update old patterns and scripts, adopting more resourceful approaches – much like updating our computer software when we start experiencing technical glitches.

It was developed in the 1970s by John Grinder, a linguistics professor at the  University of California at Santa Cruz, and Richard Bandler, a student who was deeply interested in psychology. Together they created the framework for this incredibly versatile approach for positive change. It has continued to evolve and offers many therapeutic resources to support people in their health, happiness and personal development.

How is NLP Useful?

It can help anything that you do in life that requires thought or feeling, either conscious or unconscious. From helping with fears and phobias, relieving anxiety & stress, or just communicating better. The techniques are used by top athletes, high performers, communication & body language experts, top businesses, and individuals around the world. Many people find it very interesting, as well as helping them conquer their fears or to perform to their best abilities and attain their goals.

NLP can be an effective tool in your personal or business life helping with things such as:

  • Motivation
  • Self Confidence
  • Public speaking
  • Fears and phobias
  • Insomnia
  • Stress & Tension
  • Past traumas
  • Career & Relationship goals
  • Communication Skills

The Association for NLP has some great case studies where NLP has helped people, which can give you even more of an idea of its range and scope.
