Menopause mood swings can be one of many challenging symptoms women face at this time in their lives. Find out how taking a natural health approach helped Jane.

Can Homeopathy & Hypnotherapy Help with Menopause Mood Swings?

Support with Menopause Mood Swings

Women see me for all sorts of different reasons around menopause. Sometimes it is the physical challenges of the hot flushes and night sweats, achy joints and so on. For others it may be how they feel in themselves, maybe struggling with low energy and mood, or anxiety. And for some they might also experience menopause mood swings that are very difficult to handle. At its worst, it can all feel overwhelming and impossible to deal with.

Menopause Mood Swings JaneJane contacted me a while ago to see what homeopathy could offer to support her with her mood swings.

“I was at breaking point with menopausal symptoms, the worst of which were dreadful mood swings exacerbated by not sleeping due to constant night sweats. My home and work life were being adversely affected and I felt out of control. I can’t take HRT and to be honest looked at homeopathy as a last resort (on the advice of a Spanish friend).” Jane, East Sussex.

Using Homeopathy to Support Menopause Mood Swings

The first step is for me to get a good understanding of how things had been for Jane. Her medical history meant that HRT was not an option for her. We looked at a range of remedies to offer support. Essentially the homeopathic constitutional remedy is the cornerstone of the treatment. This is very much individually tailored to each woman, to support them and their health as a whole person.

Menopause Mood SwingsAs menopause can bring many intense and varied symptoms, I often use additional specific support remedies and herbs to try to improve how the women I see are feeling as quickly as possible. I find this can be especially helpful when women are experiencing menopause mood swings. Sometimes women can feel the benefit of the remedies quite quickly, or as in Jane’s case, when her patience was rewarded.

“Lynne took to my medical history, we talked about my overall health and approach to life, and she then  tailored her advice and recommendations accordingly. It didn’t work much at first, largely due to as she politely calls it – my bon viveur lifestyle.  With persistence and tweaking of the remedies I now feel back in control. My symptoms have not gone, but have reduced and are manageable. I am once again a nice person to be around.”

Diet and lifestyle choices can also make a huge impact on how smoothly things go. In practice, I am a realist, and think everyone can make the choices that are right for them. I’m not advocating that we all have to be saintly! It was great that Jane was up for discussions around this. In understanding more, she could then make some minor adjustments that helped in a way that was right for her.

Using Hypnotherapy to Help with Menopause Mood Swings

Menopause Mood Swings 4Jane’s symptoms were intense, and impacting on her life both at home and work. I felt she may benefit from adding in hypnotherapy. My aim was for it to give her support alongside the homeopathic remedies whilst they were helping her re-establish her equilibrium. And hypnotherapy potentially offered support in the areas she was struggling with the most. Especially as it is often used when people want to be able to relax or have more control over how they are feeling. Interestingly, it is also another option for women unable to take HRT who need help with hot flushes. I prepared tailor-made sessions, which we recorded. Sending her those with a relaxing music backing so she could listen regularly and have these as a supportive resource.

“Lynne also suggested some hypnotherapy sessions on how to reduce my hot flushes, control my temper when the red mist started to rise, and how to be more balanced with my diet. She sent them to me as an mp3 file so I could listen to them again. I have found this immensely helpful. To relax for 20 minutes is a joy and it has certainly helped me manage my symptoms so much better.”

Menopause Mood Swings 5The Results!

It has been lovely working with Jane. And I really appreciate her being prepared to share her experience to let other women know that if they can’t, or don’t wish to take HRT, or need to stop, there are other options they can explore.

“Lynne has helped me enormously. She has enabled me to cope with my menopause (if I’d taken all her advice I think  I’d be 100% but us bon viveurs don’t do that!).
Don’t struggle. See Lynne. Regain control.”
